New Abuse Potential E.P. - 'WORST ONE YET' [BirthControl7X5]

Announcing the latest semi-official Abuse Potential release, part of the Birth Control Productions catalogue but unavailable in any physical format.

Occasionally this death industrial/shitnoise project will deign to release archival material for free through its bandcamp page. This latest nugget of failure is derived from choice sessions recorded between 2012 and 2018— creations not fully-enough-realised to send to a label, but still interesting enough to share with the so-called world, if only for reasons purgative. Open wide!

Hear this as a “taster” (oh yes) for more complete works coming before the end of the year. ‘Worst One Yet’ includes the very crème of my “private sessions,” remixed and remastered so as to be palatable to a wider audience. Feeling out and attempting to define the sound of a masturbatory endeavour heavily indebted to Mania (R.I.Fucking.P.), BDN, and Megaptera, among others.

The longest track here was originally released, in a much simpler form, on a DIY series of 3-4 bespoke cassettes given to a couple friends and admirers.

One day I’ll grow up, and then you’ll be sorry.

BirthControl07 - Crippling Blight 'Demo I' mini-CDr

EDIT 14/4/2021: THIS ITEM IS NOW SOLD OUT

Crippling Blight is the CA harsh noise duo of Angurus (Olaf, Oort Cloud) and Sobek (Abuse Potential). In 2017, these two longtime friends began discussing the concept of a collaborative project based in their mutual love of "black noise" artists like Abruptum, Crown of Bone, Black Scorpio Underground, Enbilulugugal, etc. These conversations soon resulted in an inaugural recording session during which, using an obsolete walkman and very spartan gear, 15 minutes' worth of improvised material was recorded directly to cassette. These sessions, pragmatically titled 'Demo I,' were initially made available online in an unmastered form and shared with certain close supporters.

Two years later, on the heels of Crippling Blight's searing live performance on Stanford's KSZU 90.1 FM, Birth Control Productions is pleased to present the formal physical release of the 'Demo I' material, extensively remixed/remastered by the group and expanded with a third, previously-unheard piece. Available in an especially limited run of 25 hand-numbered, pro-printed mini-CDrs in archival-style slender cases with glossy insert cards.

18 minutes of gritty, lo-fi static noise, unsettling synth pulses, and unbearably violent black-magick incantations. Jagged sounds from the eternal scholomance. Hopefully more material is in the works!

***NOTE: THIS IS A MINI (3") CD AND THUS WILL REQUIRE A TRAY-LOADING PLAYER***

BirthControl06 - Abuse Potential / Världsbrand split CDr

The sixth release from Birth Control Productions is a split CDr release.

Tracks 1-2 are big, hard, throbbing cuts of drug-induced outsider Industrial from the USA’s much-hated and developmentally-disabled solo project ABUSE POTENTIAL. Two crushed doses of Power Electronics/Death Industrial insomnia to soundtrack your next friendly-fire incident.

Tracks 3-4 are ritualistic offerings from Sweden's VÄRLDSBRAND, who has previously worked with Birth Control Productions under the now-defunct alias DÖDENS VÄDERSTRECK. First conceived in the late 90s, the Världsbrand project has recently returned to the scene with a vengeance, spreading like wildfire the artist’s singular gospel of despair. His tracks are swirling, trancelike, obsessive workings, wide-eyed invocations of cosmic emptiness uncomfortably situated in a hard-to-categorise zone between "harshness" and "ambience." Very different from the DÖDENS VÄDERSTRECK output— the epic second piece here may even touch on influences from Kraut and early electronics. Imagine TERRY RILEY cut off from the space shuttle and spiraling helplessly into deep space, the universe his tomb and ours.

Over 20 minutes of new material from each artist. ABSOLUTE LIMITATION of 36 hand-numbered copies on pro-duped and pro-printed CDrs in pro-printed jewel case packages.

$6US or €5, plus shipping. Order from Storenvy, Discogs, or direct email to birthcontrolproductions@gmail.com.

BirthControl05 - 8HourAnimal 'Pejorative' Cassette

Brand new from Birth Control Productions cometh the debut album from the secretive New York City artist. A troublingly ambiguous mixture of sensory inputs, all of which merge flawlessly together on this rhythmically-driven Power Electronics offering, originally recorded and released on a private basis a couple of years back.

It is unclear which noises are electronically generated here vs. which are hopelessly deformed renditions of instrumental recordings, but the overall impression is one of heavy Power Electronics approached from an emotionally-driven and techno-influenced perspective. Looped layers and compressed sizzles evoke something like the musical equivalent of coming down from club drugs surrounded by the once-warm, now-cold lights of the modern cosmopolis.

At times this album almost has “beats.” Neon synth tones are countermeasured with crunchfucked distortion blowout to provide the ideal bed for occasional outbursts of purely spiteful vocal violence, as well as the rare and deeply-embedded sung phrase.

Clearly the work of an Industrial Noise artist possessing some degree of formal musical training, ‘Pejorative’ will carefully mesmerize and then mercilessly destroy you. Has an atmosphere of atomised bedroom desperation far different, and yet not at all incompatible with, the preceding Birth Control catalog to date. Recommended for fans of Propergol, Jason Crumer, early Vidna Obmana, and mid-period Prurient.

STRICTLY limited to 50 hand-numbered copies. Black pro-C90 with double-sided pro-jcard. Total runtime 68min. $6US on Storenvy, €5 on Discogs, or order by direct communication with birthcontrolproductions@gmail.com.

8HOURS FOR WORK, 8HOURS FOR REST, 8HOURS FOR THOSE WE KILL.
